Grass Cutting 2012/13
Further to the tendering process undertaken in late December 2011, the tender for the grass cutting for the season 2012/13 has been awarded to York Landscape and Maintenance. The PC would like to thank Kev Treacher at the outgoing Acer Garden Services for his hard work over recent years.
Recent cold weather
In late 2011 the Parish Council received small sum of money from ERYC to help towards extra costs incurred during cold weather. During the recent snowfall we were approached by a member of the public offering his services with a mechanical snow clearer. Unfortunately when he tried to clear the paths in Wilberfoss, the weather was so cold that the snow had frozen to ice and his machine was not effective. As a result the snow could not be cleared to allow for gritting.
Should the snow return we will endeavour to have it cleared immediately to allow gritting and to give us the best chance of maintaining safer paths around the village. Of course, the services of snow clearance machines are highly sought after when it snows and we cannot guarantee that this service will be available to us.
As a result, we have obtained guidance from the ERYC Emergency Planning Team about how you can help clear the paths in front of your (and maybe your elderly neighbours') property. Click here to open the document.
APOLOGIES AND CORRECTION
February's Newsletter stated that henceforth no bus services will use the A1079 bus stops. This was an error for which we apologise.
*** The bus services which will no longer use the A1079 bus stops are the 744 and the 746 ***
This is because turning left onto the A1079 at the Pocklington end of the village then immediately into the bus stop is hazardous to traffic coming from the York direction.

Ancient Milestone
The ancient milestone that was on Wilberfoss Hill has, after consultation with the proper authorities, been moved to a more accessible location in the Village. Thanks to Wilberfoss in Bloom and Alan Hugill of Inturf for their assistance. See here for some pictures. There is also an article in the York Press

Jubilee Copse
In late 2011 a "Jubilee Copse" to mark the Queen's 60th Jubilee was planted in Wilberfoss. This will provide a great lasting legacy to mark this national event. The project was organised by Wilberfoss Guides and the trees were provided by the Woodland Trust .
